Job summary

CHEME ADVANCE SERVICES SDN BHD seeks an Technical Engineer (Electrical & Instrumentation Control) to design LV distribution, CAD drawings, and instrumentation layouts for wastewater and chemical processes. You will size equipment, perform load and short-circuit analyses, and develop P&IDs and hookup diagrams.

You will also supervise installation, calibrations, FAT/SAT testing, and coordinate with process engineers to optimize energy use and chemical consumption on live projects across Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• 2–3 years’ direct engineering experience, preferably in wastewater, water utilities, chemical processing, or environmental sectors.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and PLC/SCADA programming.
• Knowledge of IEC, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, IEEE.
• Willingness to travel domestically for commissioning phases.

Responsibilities

• Design low-voltage power distribution systems, SLDs, MCC layouts and cable routing schedules.
• Size and select electrical equipment including VFDs, soft starters, transformers, and standby generators.
• Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analyses, and voltage drop assessments.
• Select and prepare datasheets for wastewater instrumentation (pH meters, DO sensors, turbidity meters, flowmeters, level transmitters).
• Develop and interpret P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, and hook-up drawings.
• Oversee calibration, installation, and field testing of process instruments.
• Supervise on-site sub-contractors during electrical installation, panel wiring, and field loop testing.
• Lead site testing and commissioning (FAT/SAT) with process engineers to optimize plant chemical usage and energy consumption.
• Prepare manuals, as-built documentation, and handover operations guidelines for clients.

Technical Engineer (Electrical & Instrumentation Control)

Design low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems, single-line diagrams (SLD), motor control center (MCC) layouts, and cable routing schedules.

Sizing and selection of electrical equipment including variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, transformers, and standby power generators.

Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analyses, and voltage drop assessments.

Select, specify, and prepare datasheets for specialized wastewater instrumentation (e.g., pH meters, dissolved oxygen (DO) sensors, turbidity meters, magnetic flowmeters, ultrasonic level transmitters).

Develop and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), instrument loop diagrams, and hook-up drawings.

Oversee the calibration, installation, and field testing of all process instruments.

Supervise on-site sub-contractors during electrical installation, panel wiring, and field loop testing.

Lead site testing and commissioning (FAT/SAT) phases alongside process engineers to optimize plant chemical usage and energy consumption.

Prepare comprehensive technical manuals, as-built documentation, and handover operations guidelines for clients.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a strictly related field.

Experience

Minimum of 2 to 3 years of direct engineering experience, preferably within wastewater treatment, water utilities, chemical processing, or environmental engineering sectors.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD or specialized PLC/SCADA programming suites.

Deep understanding of local and international standards (e.g., IEC, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, IEEE).

Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, clear cross-functional communication skills, and a strong collaborative mindset to work seamlessly with other teams.

Mobility

Possess a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to domestic project sites for commissioning phases.
