Job summary

AS White Global is seeking a Systems Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to own and evolve our compute and storage platforms, ensuring security, reliability, and scalable operations. You will drive upgrades, automate infrastructure, and troubleshoot complex production issues while partnering with stakeholders.

The role requires 2+ years in a systems role, strong scripting, and familiarity with virtualization and IaC. A hybrid work arrangement with monthly onsite presence supports collaboration and on-call

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years' experience in a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator role.
• Linux and/or Windows administration experience, including deployment, automation, performance tuning, resource management, and on-premises systems support.
• Hands-on scripting and automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell, JSON, and YAML.
• Exposure to Git, GitLab/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Experience supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Oracle OLVM, VMware/KVM.
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including backup and disaster recovery, networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Nagios.
• A proactive and collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to maintain technical documentation and participate in an after-hours on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of critical infrastructure platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability across production environments.
• Drive system upgrades, patching, maintenance, and new technology implementations with minimal disruption to customers and business operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, leveraging your expertise to diagnose root causes and deliver lasting solutions.
• Build, enhance, and automate secure, scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code and modern engineering best practices.
• Play a key role in modernizing on-premises virtualization environment and shaping the future of the company's technology landscape.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business, contribute to change reviews, and champion continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen systems and processes.
• Share knowledge and make a meaningful impact by fostering a collaborative culture while supporting the company's sustainability goals.
