Job summary

Genki Sushi is seeking a Fulltime Kitchen Crew at Sunway Velocity in Kuala Lumpur. You will assist chefs with preparation and washing, cook sushi rice, and maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen. The role requires flexibility to work weekends/holidays and adapt quickly during peak hours.

No strict prior experience is required, but familiarity with kitchen tasks and food safety is helpful. Training and basic allowances are provided as part of this position.

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen experience preferred but not required.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients (fish, vegetables, rice, etc.)
• Prepare and cook sushi rice according to standard recipes
• Wash, sanitize, and organize kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times
• Restock ingredients and supplies during service as needed
• Support the sushi chef by preparing garnishes, sauces, and side items
• Dispose of kitchen waste properly and maintain a tidy work area
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines (e.g., HACCP standards)
• Help with dishwashing and general kitchen cleanup duties
• Monitor food storage temperatures and report any issues
• Assist during peak hours to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors or head chef promptly
• Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management
