Job summary

Genki Sushi (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is hiring a Fulltime Kitchen Crew at Sunway Velocity. You will assist chefs with prep, rice cooking, and station upkeep, helping ensure a fast, clean, and safe kitchen during service in Kuala Lumpur.

No prior experience required; willingness to work weekends and holidays is helpful. Training on Japan-inspired service and HACCP guidelines is provided as part of your onboarding.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or food service is a plus
• Ability to work quickly and accurately in a busy setting
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients
• Prepare and portion sushi rice according to recipes
• Wash, sanitize and organize utensils, equipment, and workstations
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene at all times
• Restock ingredients during service as needed
• Support chef by preparing garnishes, sauces and side items
• Dispose of waste properly and report issues to supervision
• Monitor storage temperatures and assist during peak hours

Job description

Fulltime Kitchen Crew (Sunway Velocity) Basic + Allowances Provided

Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients (fish, vegetables, rice, etc.)

Prepare and cook sushi rice according to standard recipes

Wash, sanitize, and organize kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times

Restock ingredients and supplies during service as needed

Support the sushi chef by preparing garnishes, sauces, and side items

Dispose of kitchen waste properly and maintain a tidy work area

Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines (e.g., HACCP standards)

Help with dishwashing and general kitchen cleanup duties

Monitor food storage temperatures and report any issues

Assist during peak hours to ensure smooth kitchen operations

Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors or head chef promptly

Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management

Requirements (optional to include):

Prior kitchen experience preferred but not required

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays
