Job summary

Fengshi Metal Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a surface finishing specialist to develop and optimize coating processes, including powder coating and spray painting, in a manufacturing setting.

You will monitor coating parameters, troubleshoot defects, and implement corrective actions to improve product quality. You will collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering teams, support new product trials, and maintain process documentation to ensure compliance with customer

Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field.
• Experience in powder coating, spray painting, surface treatment or metal finishing is preferred.
• Experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of coating processes, curing, coating thickness and common finishing defects.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Able to work closely with Production and Quality teams.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Candidates with relevant hands-on experience in surface finishing processes are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and optimize surface finishing processes, including powder coating and spray painting.
• Monitor and control coating parameters such as paint/powder application, coating thickness, curing temperature and curing time.
• Troubleshoot coating defects such as uneven coating, poor adhesion, color variation, orange peel, contamination and insufficient curing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for finishing-related quality issues.
• Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to improve process capability, productivity and product quality.
• Support new product introduction, trial runs and process validation for surface finishing processes.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process specifications and related technical documentation.
• Evaluate and improve coating materials, equipment, fixtures and process methods.
• Monitor process performance and identify opportunities to reduce rejection, rework, material usage and production cost.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operators on proper spraying and finishing procedures.
• Ensure finishing processes comply with customer specifications, quality standards and company requirements.
• Support continuous improvement projects related to surface finishing and manufacturing processes.
