Job description

Location: Jalan Kebun, Klang Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment Firm, is partnering with an organisation within the Industrial sector to hire a Supply Chain Manager. This opportunity is based in Jalan Kebun, Klang.

Position Overview

Lead and integrate end-to-end supply chain operations across Purchasing, Logistics, and Warehouse functions within a manufacturing environment. Drive operational efficiency, optimise costs, and ensure a seamless flow of materials and finished goods to support business performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Supplier Management

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure raw materials (e.g., silica sand, soda ash, limestone) and consumables at optimal cost, quality, and delivery terms.
• Lead key supplier negotiations and manage contracts, focusing on suppliers of glass-grade materials and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, conducting regular performance reviews based on QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) metrics.
• Stay abreast of global and local supply market trends for glass-making materials and packaging, proactively mitigating supply risks.
• Establish and enforce procurement policies compliant with company governance and approval authority limits.

Warehouse Management

• Oversee all warehouse operations, including raw material storage, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
• Optimise warehouse layout and processes to maximise space utilisation, improve picking accuracy, and enhance productivity.
• Ensure strict adherence to inventory management procedures, including cycle counting and annual stocktakes, to maintain inventory accuracy and minimise obsolescence or damage.
• Manage warehouse staff and equipment, ensuring a safe working environment in compliance with Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.

Logistics & Distribution

• Manage the inbound logistics of raw materials and outbound logistics of finished glass bottles, ensuring timely delivery to customers.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and transport providers, optimising routes, shipping methods, and freight costs to improve on-time delivery performance.
• Oversee import/export activities, ensuring full compliance with Malaysian Customs regulations and Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) requirements.
• Manage customs clearance documentation and duties to ensure compliance and cost efficiency.

Supply Chain Strategy & Performance

• Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with the factory's production and business goals.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies to reduce waste, lower costs, and enhance service levels.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD), cost savings, and logistics cost per unit.
• Act as the key liaison between the commercial team, production, and quality departments to balance manufacturing plans with customer requirements.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and mentor a multi-functional team across Purchasing, Logistics, and Warehouse departments.
• Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Manage team resources, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and staff development.

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• MBA or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) is an added advantage.
• Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in the glass manufacturing, FMCG, or consumer packaging industry is a strong advantage.
• Experience sourcing raw materials for glass production is highly desirable.

Technical / Functional Expertise

• Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, and warehouse management best practices.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and demand planning tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of Malaysian Customs regulations, including Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) requirements and import/export procedures.
• Experience managing supplier performance through QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) metrics.
• Knowledge of inventory management procedures, cycle counting, annual stocktakes, and warehouse operations.
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies.
