Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Supervisor Trainer with native-level Japanese proficiency to lead training delivery and support operational readiness across the Uber Safety and COE lines of business.
The role requires a strong combination of training, people management, operational knowledge and stakeholder communication. The selected candidate will supervise training activities, deliver classroom and virtual sessions, monitor learner performance and ensure that employees are prepared to meet quality, productivity, compliance and customer-experience expectations.
Candidates must be comfortable supporting a 24/7 operation, including rotational shifts, weekends and public holidays, based on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage training delivery across both the Safety and COE lines of business.
- Conduct new-hire, process, product, policy and refresher training in Japanese.
- Supervise trainers, trainees and training batches throughout the learning lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain training plans, schedules, learning materials, facilitator guides and assessments.
- Ensure training content accurately reflects current policies, procedures, tools and operational requirements.
- Facilitate instructor-led, virtual and blended-learning sessions.
- Monitor trainee attendance, participation, assessment scores and certification results.
- Identify knowledge and performance gaps and create targeted coaching or remediation plans.
- Conduct knowledge checks, mock scenarios, role plays and final certification assessments.
- Coordinate nesting, floor transition and post-training support.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Workforce Management and client stakeholders.
- Ensure consistent knowledge transfer across shifts and both lines of business.
- Track training effectiveness using pass rates, quality scores, productivity metrics and post-training performance.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly training reports for leadership.
- Conduct training-needs analysis based on quality findings, policy updates and operational performance.
- Support new-process launches, policy changes and urgent business updates.
- Coach trainers and team members and provide structured performance feedback.
- Maintain training records, audit evidence and compliance documentation.
- Escalate training, learner or operational risks and follow them through resolution.
- Handle sensitive Safety-related content professionally and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Continuously improve training methods, content quality and learner engagement.
Mandatory Requirements
- Native or near-native Japanese language proficiency.
- Strong spoken and written Japanese communication skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Experience as a Trainer, Lead Trainer, Training Supervisor or Operations Trainer.
- Experience managing training batches, learner performance and certification.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, coaching and feedback skills.
- Ability to manage multiple training priorities and lines of business.
- Strong stakeholder-management and reporting capabilities.
- Good understanding of quality, productivity and compliance metrics.
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 rotational-shift environment.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and public holidays when scheduled.
- Ability to join by the end of October or early November.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in BPO, customer support, trust and safety, content moderation or shared-services operations.
- Experience supporting Japanese-language processes.
- Prior supervisory or people-management experience.
- Exposure to Safety, escalations, investigations or risk-related operations.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and virtual-training platforms.
- Knowledge of adult-learning principles and instructional-design methods.
- Experience creating training decks, assessments, process documents and standard operating procedures.
