Job summary

ASE SEMICONDUCTOR (PENANG) SDN. BHD. is seeking an Assistant Manager to own the outbound value stream in Penang. You will take charge from pick list release on the warehouse floor, through packing and shipment readiness, to freight execution and customs clearance.

You will also manage inventory integrity, cycle counting, and liaison with customs authorities, ensuring compliance and timely dispatch for customer orders. Prior supervisory experience in a WMS environment is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, Commerce or Engineering.
• 5–8 years across warehouse and outbound/export operations.
• Experience supervising a pick-pack-ship team in a WMS or RF-scanning environment, with accountability for pick accuracy and inventory records.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (essential for regulatory correspondence).

Responsibilities

• Owns all outbound responsibilities from packing to dispatch verification and freight readiness.
• Manages stock integrity, cycle counts, stock accuracy, and reconciliation against ERP & customs records.
• Plans daily/weekly shipments, coordinating air, sea, and courier out of Penang Airport/Port/NBCT.
• Liaises with RMCD/JKDM Pulau Pinang, MITI and Free Zone Authority for regulatory compliance.
• Oversees licenses, permits, and preferential trade certifications and screening for restricted goods.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Every shipment we send out carries three risks: it can be wrong, it can be late, or it can be non-compliant. This role owns all three.
• We're hiring an Assistant Manager to take end-to-end ownership of our outbound value stream in Penang: from pick list release on the warehouse floor, through packing and shipment readiness, to freight execution and customs clearance.
• You'll be the person JKDM calls, the person our forwarders answer to, and the person Sales comes to when a customer needs an AOG shipment on tonight's flight.

What you'll own

• The warehouse floor, pick to shipment-ready — Wave and pick list release, picking accuracy and lot/serial traceability, packing to customer and export spec labelling and VGM capture, staging and final dispatch verification.
• Inventory integrity — Cycle counting, stock accuracy, discrepancy investigation, and reconciliation of physical stock against ERP and customs/zone records.
• Outbound execution — Daily and weekly shipment planning against the order book and customer cut-offs. Air, sea and courier out of Penang International Airport, Penang Port/NBCT. Container and truck utilisation, loading, seal control, gate-out.
• Export compliance — Related declarations through SMK/uCustoms via Dagang Net/AEO. HS classification, customs valuation, country of origin, Incoterms 2020. Direct liaison with RMCD/JKDM Pulau Pinang, MITI and the Free Zone Authority.
• Permits, licences and preferential trade — MITI export licences and APs, Strategic Trade Act 2010 permits for dual-use items, and FTA certificates of origin (Form D/ATIGA, Form E, RCEP, CPTPP). Screening for restricted goods, denied parties and sanctioned end‑users before anything ships.
• Freight and cost — Manage forwarders, licensed customs agents, hauliers and carriers on SLA and cost. Rate benchmarking, freight invoice verification, detention and demurrage control, claims.
• Audit readiness — Zone and LMW stock reconciliation, statutory record retention, and front‑line ownership during Customs audits, internal audits and AEO assessments.

Requirements

• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, Commerce or Engineering
• 5–8 years across warehouse and outbound/export operations
• Proven experience supervising a pick-pack-ship team in a WMS or RF-scanning environment, and accountability for pick accuracy and inventory record accuracy
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (essential for regulatory correspondence)
• The judgement to elevate rather than improvise on a grey area — and the backbone to hold a shipment that isn't compliant, whatever the revenue at stake

Added advantage

• Experience in a Free Industrial Zone (FIZ), Free Commercial Zone (FCZ) or Free Trade Zone (FTZ) environment is a distinct plus.
• If you've prepared ZB movement forms, handled PCA-to-zone transfers, or managed Free Zone Authority conditions and reporting, we want to hear from you. LMW (Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse) or bonded warehouse experience is valued just as highly.
