Job summary

Benchmark Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead indirect procurement across MRO, facilities, IT, and CAPEX services. You will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and drive cost reductions while ensuring quality and compliance.

The role collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and IT to meet business needs, monitor supplier performance, and manage risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Procurement, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of procurement or purchasing experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong experience in indirect procurement within manufacturing.
• Experience sourcing MRO items, facilities services, CAPEX equipment, utilities, IT services, and business support services.
• Strong contract negotiation and supplier management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for indirect materials and services across categories.
• Develop sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings and continuity.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery.
• Lead contract negotiations and supplier agreements.
• Drive cost reduction through strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support business requirements.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethical sourcing.
• Support capital expenditure projects through procurement planning.
• Prepare purchasing reports and cost-saving achievements for management.
• Lead and develop the purchasing team to meet objectives.
