Job summary

Sin Heng Chan (Malaya) Berhad is seeking an experienced Assistant Group General Manager to support the Executive Director in overseeing Group operations, driving performance, and strengthening governance across the diversified agri-based group in Malaysia.

The role emphasizes strategic initiatives, budgeting, governance compliance with Bursa Malaysia listings, and delivering value through collaboration with management across diverse businesses.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant working experience, including experience in a senior management capacity.
• Strong commercial acumen, analytical ability and sound business judgement.
• Ability to work effectively across diverse businesses and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic Group environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise and compelling reports and presentations to Senior Management and the Board.
• Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with a public-listed company or diversified corporate Group will be an added advantage.
• Practical knowledge of Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements and corporate governance requirements applicable to public-listed companies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Group's operations and ensure effective utilisation of resources, while recommending strategies to improve operational efficiency, cost effectiveness and overall business performance.
• Support the Executive Director and Board in developing and implementing Group strategies, business plans and key strategic initiatives.
• Monitor Group-wide business performance and follow up on key priorities and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare and present management reports, business proposals, budgets and presentations for Senior Management and Board discussions.
• Coordinate the preparation and monitoring of budgets and business plans across the Group.
• Assist the Board in evaluating investment opportunities, development projects and other strategic initiatives prior to execution.
• Ensure compliance with Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, corporate governance practices and Group policies.
• Assist in the preparation of Board and Board Committee papers, monitor action items, and support the preparation of the annual report and governance-related disclosures.
• Strengthen internal controls, risk management and compliance processes across the Group in collaboration with relevant business units and professional advisers.
• Work closely with management teams across the Group to identify opportunities for operational improvement, business growth and value creation.
• Undertake other strategic projects and assignments as directed by the Executive Director and Board.
