Job summary

Carleton ES is seeking a hands-on Site Engineer / Project Coordinator (Steel Structure Specialist) to lead the execution of specialized structural steel projects on a Kuching, Sarawak site. You will supervise erection, coordinate fabricators, and ensure compliance with engineering specs and safety standards.

The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree or diploma and a minimum of 5 years in structural steel projects, with AutoCAD and MS Project proficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering or a related construction field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in the construction industry, preferably within structural steel, metal works, or heavy structural projects.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret complex structural drawings and architectural plans.
• Familiarity with steel fabrication processes or welding inspections.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and basic project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and cross‑check structural steel drawings (including Tekla or AutoCAD models) and identify discrepancies early to coordinate with engineers or clients to resolve technical issues.
• Provide direct, on‑site supervision of steel erection, installation, and heavy lifting activities to ensure all work strictly aligns with engineering specifications and quality benchmarks.
• Act as the central point of contact between site operations, factory fabricators, and main contractors, tracking delivery timelines for steel components.
• Manage daily site labour, subcontractors, and welders, monitoring progress against the master schedule and proactively resolving site bottlenecks.
• Enforce site safety standards and strict adherence to CIDB regulations, welding standards, and method statements.
• Maintain accurate site diaries, progress photos, and material tracking logs, and assist in preparing documentation for progress claims and variations (VOs)
