Job summary

TE Connectivity Ltd. in Penang seeks a Staff Product Development Engineer (Connector) to lead high‑speed connector projects from concept through production.

You will translate customer requirements into robust designs, perform 3D modeling, GD&T, and DFMEA, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing and quality. Hybrid work in Malaysia with international partners offers growth in a global leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, physics, etc.
• More than 5 years mechanical design experience; connector-related preferred; independent new product development a plus
• Knowledge of connector fundamentals; high-speed connector applications preferred
• Familiar with GD&T, tolerance analysis, mechanics of plastics/metals, basic injection molding, stamping and assembly
• Proficient in at least one 3D CAD software: Creo, Pro/E, Catia, UG or SolidWorks; MS Word/Excel/PPT
• In-depth knowledge and experience of CAE for mechanical/structural simulations
• Proficient in writing and reading English; Chinese language skill is a plus
• Good communication skills, teamwork, ability to work with multicultural teams
• Effective problem-solving and ability to handle multiple products/tasks

Responsibilities

• Technical communication with customers and frontend team to confirm/understand applications and requirements
• Translate requirements into engineering specifications and provide solutions with new product designs on time
• Design concept making, mechanical analysis, building 3D models and 2D drawings, GD&T, BOM, DFMEA, product specifications
• Lead design reviews for engineering principles, standards, and manufacturing feasibility with cross-functional teams
• Lead EV/DV/PV tests to validate product designs
• FAI review coordination and on-site support for product ramp-up
