Job summary

Amphenol TCS Malaysia is seeking a senior Product Design Engineer to lead design activities for high-speed connector solutions. You will translate customer requirements into robust drawings and specifications, and drive validation against industry standards.

The role requires 7+ years in product design, leadership skills for senior roles, and strong proficiency with CREO/ANSYS. Expect collaboration with manufacturing and other engineering functions to optimize cost and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline.
• 7+ years of product design development experience.
• Experience in interconnects design (SFF-TA-1001/1002, PCIe CEM) desirable; senior roles require design leadership.
• Proficient in mechanical design and tolerance analysis.
• Familiar with CAD/CAE tools (CREO, ANSYS) and engineering drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design activities and translate customer requirements into drawings and specs.
• Validate designs to meet customer requirements and international standards.
• Drive DFMEA, design analysis, and tolerance analysis throughout development.
• Define and reconcile technical DFM with Process Design team.
• Improve designs to reduce manufacturing costs and support lifecycle.

Job description

Participate in development of new products and product improvements with disciplined focus in product engineering design of connector solution.

Design and develop quality product and ensuring manufacturability with other engineering functions involved in product development.

Perform product design activity which includes translating customer requirements into product drawings and product specification, design analysis and verification, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, etc.

Ensure product designs are validated per customer requirements, respecting international industry standards.

Take Project Leadership role, define and reconcile technical DFM with Process Design team

Responsible for product engineering of responsible product line; and be part of integrated team anticipating and resolving customer dissatisfaction.

Improve product designs to bring about reduction in manufacturing cost.

Requirement

• Bachelor / Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or other relevant discipline
• Minimum 7 years of product design development experience with excellent grasp of Engineering and Design principles.
• Experience in interconnects design industry (Eg: SFF-TA-1001/1002, PCIe CEM) is desirable. Senior/Staff position requires excellent design leadership skills and relevant product life-cycle knowledge.
• Proficient with Mechanical Design, Solid Mechanics theory, Tolerance Analysis and its application to product design
• Familiar with CAD/CAE tool: Pro-Engineer CREO & ANSYS Structural Analysis
• Familiar with engineering drawing industry standards
• Working knowledge of connector application, plastic technology, insert-molding, stamping processes is preferred.
