Job summary

Samsung Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a seasoned Payroll Lead to head a team delivering time, attendance and payroll services for SEAO subsidiaries. You will ensure service delivery aligns with HR policies, SLAs, and regulatory standards.

The role requires strong payroll management experience in a Shared Service Centre, expertise in HRIS/payroll systems, and the ability to coordinate multiple payrolls across deadlines. A hands-on approach is valued.

Qualifications

  • Proven payroll experience in Shared Service Centre.
  • Strong understanding and experience in HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Experience managing multiple payrolls and meeting deadlines.
  • Hands-on, willing to step in to process payroll if needed.
  • Knowledge of SEA & Oceania regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with subsidiaries’ HR, IT, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • To lead and direct the time & attendance and payroll service.
  • To manage the payroll team to ensure the shared service delivers payroll services that meet customer expectations and service level agreements.
  • To manage the payroll team to carry out the day-to-day processes for the provision of an effective, timely and accurate payroll service for the subsidiaries and in accordance with the HR policies, service standards, and performance requirements.
  • To oversee the training and development of the payroll team to promote knowledge transfer, develop skills and provide resilience for the ongoing operation of the payroll service.
  • To ensure that all payroll controls, payroll compliance and all audit regulatory requirements are met.
  • Implementing changes as necessary for statutory updates and overseeing any projects to improve efficiency.
  • To manage ongoing maintenance and development of the payroll system.

Position Summary

To lead and manage a team of payroll specialists to deliver the time & attendance and payroll services for the subsidiaries in SEAO region. The job incumbent is expected to manage the service delivery in meeting the subsidiaries’ HR’s expectations and service level agreements.

  • To manage the payroll team to carry out the day-to-day processes for the provision of an effective, timely and accurate payroll service for the subsidiaries and in accordance with the appropriate HR policies, service standards, and performance requirements.
  • To oversee the training and development of the payroll team to promote knowledge transfer, develop skills and to provide stable resilience for the on-going operation the payroll service.
  • To ensure that all payroll controls, payroll compliance and all audit regulatory requirements are met.
  • Implementing changes as necessary for statutory updates and overseeing any projects to improve efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven payroll experience in Shared Service Centre
  • Strong understanding and relevant experience in HRIS and Payroll system
  • Experience of working on and managing multiple payrolls, working towards multiple deadlines

  • Hands‑on, willing to step in to process payroll if needed
  • Possess good knowledge and experience in SEA & Oceania regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving kills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including subsidiaries’ HR, IT, and other relevant teams
  • Effective partnership working skills including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
