Job description

We are seeking a Specification Writer to support a company-wide Specification Update Initiative, contributing to the development, coordination, and maintenance of architectural specifications across building and fit-out projects. This role offers the opportunity to deepen expertise in materials and standards while working closely with project teams in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and support the objectives of the Specification Update Initiative.
• Prepare, develop, and update specification-related documentation, including written specifications, drawings, models, images, and presentation materials where required.
• Assist with internal coordination across teams involved in the Initiative.
• Take responsibility for designated areas of the Initiative as assigned by the Project Leader.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, consultants, suppliers, manufacturers, and relevant external parties as required.
• Ensuring that the specification writings conform to relevant authority requirements, building regulations, planning constraints and regulations, local standards (UBBL, MS), international standards (BS, EU, ASA, etc.), and any other applicable technical guidelines.
• Support the development of structured workflows for large, interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Adhere to GDP Architects’ internal procedures, standards, and documentation protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in architectural projects, particularly residential, hospitality, and retail developments.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Experience in material selection, architectural specifications, and specification writing.
• Ability to work independently while responding effectively to direction and instruction.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Clear, confident, and professional communication skills when working with colleagues, clients, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Experience or knowledge in quantity surveying, construction costs, or materials costing is an advantage.

Location

• Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur
• Daily complimentary shuttle service between the office and MRT Semantan (return)
