We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teacher to join our team at AFY in Cyberjaya, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs and disabilities. As a Special Needs Teacher, you will be at the heart of our educational mission, developing and delivering individualised learning programmes that enable every child to reach their potential. This role is essential to our commitment of providing high-quality, inclusive education tailored to each student's unique requirements.
Designing and implementing customised lesson plans and educational programmes tailored to the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of students with special needs
Delivering engaging and interactive lessons using a variety of teaching strategies, resources and assistive technologies appropriate to each student's requirements
Assessing student progress regularly and maintaining detailed records of academic development, behavioural observations and achievements
Collaborating with parents, guardians and other professionals (speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists) to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support
Providing one-on-one and small group instruction to reinforce learning objectives and build confidence in students
Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Adapting curriculum materials and assessment methods to accommodate diverse learning needs and ensure accessibility
Mentoring and supporting teaching assistants and support staff within the classroom
Communicating regularly with families regarding student progress, concerns and achievements through reports and parent-teacher meetings
Participating in professional development activities and staying current with best practices in special needs education
A recognised teaching qualification or diploma in Special Education or an equivalent teaching credential
Proven experience working with children with special needs, learning disabilities, developmental delays or other additional support requirements
Strong knowledge of specialised teaching strategies, evidence-based interventions and inclusive education practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, families, colleagues and external professionals
Patience, empathy and genuine passion for supporting children with diverse learning needs
Proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication abilities
Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple students with varying needs simultaneously
Knowledge of curriculum adaptation and differentiation techniques
Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive learning resources is advantageous
A commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive and welcoming learning environment for all students
Relevant certifications in child safeguarding or first aid are desirable
