Pivotal Systems in Kedah, Malaysia, seeks a qualified engineer to operate, monitor and maintain gas systems across the plant. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex gas equipment, and ensure compliance with local safety and regulatory standards.
The role requires hands-on experience in industrial gas systems and a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field, with strong communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant gas systems in accordance with company procedures, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot specialty gas systems, including bulk gas systems, gas cylinders, gas cabinets, valve manifold boxes (VMBs), gas distribution pipelines, pressure regulation systems, gas detection systems, and monitoring systems.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on gas systems and related equipment to maximize system reliability and minimize production downtime.
Conduct routine inspections, leak detection tests, functional testing, and safety audits to ensure the integrity and safe operation of gas systems.
Coordinate with gas suppliers, contractors, and service providers for gas supply, installation, maintenance, calibration, testing, and system upgrades.
Monitor gas consumption and system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement measures to optimize system efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Ensure full compliance with applicable local regulations, industry standards, and company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements related to gas systems.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, maintenance records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and engineering reports.
Provide technical support, guidance, and training to Facilities, Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams on gas system operation and safety.
Support plant facilities by coordinating with relevant teams to ensure the reliable operation of utilities that interface with gas systems.
Liaise with regulatory authorities and support inspections and audits conducted by DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, and other relevant authorities, ensuring timely closure of findings.
Participate in engineering projects involving gas system installation, expansion, modification, and commissioning.
Respond promptly to gas-related alarms, emergencies, and system failures, carrying out troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions to ensure plant safety and operational continuity.
Perform any other duties or projects assigned by the superior from time to time.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 3 years of working experience in facilities operations and maintenance, with hands-on experience in industrial or specialty gas systems. Experience in the semiconductor, electronics, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of gas distribution systems, gas cabinets, bulk gas systems, pipelines, gas detection systems, HVAC, and fire protection systems, with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with local safety regulations and EHS requirements related to gas systems (e.g. DOSH, DOE, and relevant industry standards).
Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage to facilitate communication with a diverse workforce and external stakeholders.
Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under pressure to meet operational deadlines.
