Job summary

CEICdata.com (M) Sdn Bhd seeks a software engineer to design, develop and deliver high-quality Java-based data processing solutions. You will work with Business Analysts, translate requirements into technical specs and contribute to testing strategies.

Ideal candidates have strong Java experience, databases (MySQL, MongoDB, AWS Aurora), and exposure to data pipelines, microservices and CI/CD. Proficiency in English required; Cantonese a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering with strong computing background.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar or closely related role.
• Excellent communication in English; Cantonese is a plus.

Job description

• Collaborate closely with the Business Analyst to define, refine, develop, test and deliver against functional requirements
• Understands and translates functional into technical requirements
• Develops technical documentation for internal or external consumption for engineers of varying skill level
• Provides technical input to the project delivery plan, including sizing and estimation
• Being accountable for the quality of the scrum team and supporting through code review processes and testing strategies
• Implements correct, performant and reliable code on schedule and according to specification
• Determines code quality and test coverage, and designing and implementing tests to make sure software is built to the highest quality possible
• Develops and maintains test automation efficiency and effectiveness
• Responsible for defect closure and root cause analysis to avoid regressions
• Drives continual improvement in quality and efficiency, including defect prevention/root cause analysis, suggesting and adopting improvements to technology and efficiency
• Collaborates and partners across different departments including Support, Operations, Product and Engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering with strong computing background
• Object Oriented programming experience: min 3+ years in Java
• Solid experience in MySQL, AWS Aurora and MongoDB
• Experience in Data Engineering / Data Pipelines / Data processing streaming technologies
• Experience in WildFly
• Experience in VSTO Excel add-in development
• Experience with IDE tools such as Injelij
• Experience in Windows 10 / 11 and Office
• Familiar with Source Control tool GIT
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services: e.g. Lambda, SQS, S3
• Experience with Micro Services architecture and development
• Continuous Integration software: e.g. Jenkins
• Excellent communicator and ability to work with teams in different regions and time zones
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Understand Cantonese would be added advantage
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar or closely related role is expected to demonstrate competency

• Experience in Python programming
• Search engine: Elastic Search
• R (for Math library)
• Auto update tool: e.g. Wybuild, ClickOnce
• Test automation tool: e.g. TestComplete, JUnit
• Basic Linux operations: e.g. crontab
• AI/LLM Integration: Hands-on experience integrating Generative AI / Large Language Model (LLM) APIs (e.g., OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, or Hugging Face) into enterprise applications.
• AI Frameworks: Familiarity with Java or Python AI frameworks.
• AI-Assisted Development: Active experience using AI-driven coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Amazon Q) to accelerate development efficiency.
