Job summary

ISI in Malaysia seeks a software engineer to design, develop, test, and deliver Java-based data-driven applications and services in a modern cloud environment.

You will translate business requirements into technical specs, collaborate with cross-region teams, and contribute to scalable data pipelines using AWS. Strong English communication is essential, with Cantonese a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in CS/IT/SE.
• 3–5 years in a similar or related role.
• Java: 3+ years experience.
• Experience with MySQL, AWS Aurora, MongoDB.
• Experience in Data Engineering / Data Pipelines / streaming tech.
• Experience with Microservices architecture.
• CI/CD with Jenkins.
• GIT familiarity.
• AWS services: Lambda, SQS, S3.
• Elastic Search, Python, R a plus.
• AI/LLM integration experience a plus.
• Excellent English communication; Cantonese a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the BA to define, refine, develop, test and deliver against functional requirements.

• Ensure scrum team quality via code reviews and testing strategies.

Job description

• Collaborate closely with the Business Analyst to define, refine, develop, test and deliver against functional requirements
• Understands and translates functional into technical requirements
• Develops technical documentation for internal or external consumption for engineers of varying skill level
• Provides technical input to the project delivery plan, including sizing and estimation
• Being accountable for the quality of the scrum team and supporting through code review processes and testing strategies
• Implements correct, performant and reliable code on schedule and according to specification
• Determines code quality and test coverage, and designing and implementing tests to make sure software is built to the highest quality possible
• Develops and maintains test automation efficiency and effectiveness
• Responsible for defect closure and root cause analysis to avoid regressions
• Drives continual improvement in quality and efficiency, including defect prevention/root cause analysis, suggesting and adopting improvements to technology and efficiency
• Collaborates and partners across different departments including Support, Operations, Product and Engineering

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering with strong computing background
• Object Oriented programming experience: min 3+ years in Java
• Solid experience in MySQL, AWS Aurora and MongoDB
• Experience in Data Engineering / Data Pipelines / Data processing streaming technologies
• Experience in WildFly
• Experience with IDE tools such as Injelij
• Experience in Windows 10 / 11 and Office
• Familiar with Source Control tool GIT
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services: e.g. Lambda, SQS, S3
• Experience with Micro Services architecture and development
• Continuous Integration software: e.g. Jenkins
• Excellent communicator and ability to work with teams in different regions and time zones
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Understand Cantonese would be added advantage
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar or closely related role is expected to demonstrate competency
