Job summary

Lumileds Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to steer the technical direction of manufacturing software and drive best practices across projects.

You will design, build, test, and maintain applications that support LED manufacturing and data processing while resolving complex production issues and ensuring system reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology.
• 3-5 years of professional software development experience in manufacturing or enterprise apps.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications supporting LED manufacturing and data-processing operations.
• Provide first-line technical support for manufacturing applications and assist in resolving complex production, application, database, and integration issues.
• Troubleshoot application, database, integration, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis to implement improvements.
• Participate in technical design and architecture discussions and recommend solutions for assigned applications and projects.
• Participate in full SDLC activities including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, reduce technical debt, and improve manufacturing and engineering workflows.
• Support the implementation of software engineering standards, security practices, data integrity controls, and system reliability requirements.

Who You Are:

This is an experienced level of technical contribution in the Test Software Department. The person requires a mid-to-high level in solving complex software and production problems and can work through issues systematically from investigation and root-cause analysis through to resolution.

Position Summary:

The Lead Software Engineer will support the technical direction of development activities, promote good software engineering practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing applications and systems.

What You Will Do:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications supporting LED's manufacturing and data-processing operations.
• Provide first-line technical support for manufacturing applications and assist in resolving complex production, application, database, and integration issues.
• Troubleshoot application, database, integration, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis to implement corrective and preventive improvements.
• Participate in technical design and architecture discussions and provide recommendations for assigned applications and projects.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing systems, automate manual processes, reduce technical debt, and improve the efficiency of manufacturing and engineering workflows.
• Support the implementation of software engineering standards, security practices, data integrity controls, and system reliability requirements.

What You Will Bring (RequiredQualifications):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related IT/Engineering field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience, preferably in manufacturing, automation, and enterprise application environments.
• Good software development, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Good programming experience in Perl, C#, VB.NET, and ASP.NET MVC.
• Good knowledge and practical experience with SQL databases, preferably SQL Server, Oracle, and/or MySQL.
• Experience with Entity Framework and database-driven application development.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining existing and legacy applications.
• Experience conducting code reviews and applying software development best practices.
• Knowledge of Power BI and Power Automate is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Agile/software development practices and project management is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, proactive, responsible, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
