VTech Communications (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior SMT Engineer for PCBA production and process improvement in Muar, Johor. This hands-on role requires deep expertise in SMT production lines, troubleshooting, and driving process improvements to meet production targets.
You will work with cross-functional teams, optimize SMT processes (solder paste printing, SPI, pick & place, reflow, AOI), and provide on-site support during critical production periods.
Demonstrate strong hands-on experience in SMT production, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
Possess good knowledge and practical experience in key SMT processes, including Solder Paste Printing, SPI, Pick & Place, Reflow, and AOI.
Perform effective troubleshooting of soldering defects, AOI false calls, component rejection/throwing, and other production line issues.
Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, and PDCA.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify production issues, implement improvement initiatives, and achieve production targets.
Provide timely and effective on-site production support, including troubleshooting and resolution of SMT-related issues, particularly under pressure or during critical production situations.
Possess good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with production, engineering, quality, and other relevant departments.
Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an added advantage.
A. Qualification Required:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or any related field.
B. Experience Required:
Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in SMT, PCBA, or Electronics Manufacturing, with proven experience in SMT production line troubleshooting and process improvement.
C. Skills:
Strong understanding of SMT machines, feeders, and component placement issues.
Experienced in SMT process parameter optimization, yield improvement, defect reduction, and production efficiency improvement.
Proven track record in troubleshooting and resolving soldering defects, soldering issues, AOI false calls, component misalignment, missing components, and excessive component throwing/rejection.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
Good understanding and practical application of 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, PDCA, and other problem‑solving methodologies.
Able to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment and provide immediate technical support to ensure smooth SMT production operations.
