Pivotal Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced PCBA Process Development & Optimization engineer to develop and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes across SMT, DIP, wave soldering and final assembly. You will support production, lead process improvements and ensure quality and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires 3+ years in PCBA manufacturing, strong knowledge of PCB assembly processes and hands-on experience with process documentation, SPC and
PCBA Process Development & Optimization: Develop, evaluate, and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes, including SMT, DIP, wave soldering, reflow soldering, and final assembly, to improve production efficiency, reduce cycle time, and minimize defects and material waste.
Production Support & Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to production by monitoring assembly processes, identifying bottlenecks, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Equipment & Process Setup: Select, install, commission, program, and maintain PCBA production equipment such as screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI, SPI, ICT, and functional test systems. Ensure equipment calibration and preventive maintenance are carried out.
Quality Assurance & Process Control: Establish and maintain process control standards to ensure products meet IPC, customer, and regulatory requirements. Support quality improvement activities through SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, and process capability analysis.
Documentation & Standardization: Prepare and maintain work instructions, process flow charts, SOPs, machine parameters, engineering change documentation (ECN/ECO), and technical reports to ensure standardized manufacturing practices.
Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and yield improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce manufacturing costs, improve first-pass yield (FPY), and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all PCBA manufacturing processes comply with EHS regulations, IPC standards, ISO quality management systems, and company safety policies.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to support new product introduction by conducting DFM/DFT reviews, process validation, pilot builds, line qualification, and smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Procurement, and suppliers to resolve technical issues, implement engineering changes, and achieve manufacturing objectives.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management from time to time, as deemed necessary.
Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing, SMT/DIP production, process engineering, or electronics manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, including SMT, DIP, reflow soldering, wave soldering, PCB assembly, AOI, SPI, ICT, functional testing, and ESD control.
Experience in process optimization, yield improvement, root cause analysis, CAPA, and New Product Introduction (NPI) is an advantage.
Knowledge of manufacturing process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN).
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, and familiar with ERP/MES systems and production data analysis.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve manufacturing and process-related issues effectively.
Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin to effectively communicate with all level.
Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet project and production deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
