I. On-site Construction Supervision & Execution
1. Daily Construction Management
- Supervise subcontractors and workers to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications, maintaining proper procedures (e.g., formwork installation, rebar binding, concrete pouring).
- Directly guide workers to resolve technical issues (e.g., material shortages, equipment breakdowns) and coordinate on-site resources.
2. Progress Tracking
- Monitor daily/weekly progress, report risks of delays (e.g., monsoon season halting earthworks) against the main contractor’s schedule.
- Assist engineers or civil managers in adjusting short-term construction sequences to address emergencies (e.g., material delivery delays).
3. Initial Quality Inspection
- Conduct \"self-check\" and \"peer-check\" processes, document defects, and ensure corrective actions.
- Support engineers in formal inspections (e.g., concrete slump tests, backfill compaction tests).
II. Safety & Compliance Control
1. On-site Safety Inspections
- Perform daily checks on safety measures (e.g., scaffold stability, temporary electrical compliance, use of safety harnesses for working at heights).
- Ensure adherence to the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA) and the main contractor’s safety manual, halting violations immediately.
2. Subcontractor Safety Management
- Monitor subcontractors’ Toolbox Meetings, verify workers hold valid CIDB Green Cards (safety training certification).
- Report high-risk activities (e.g., deep excavation) to the Safety Officer for documentation.
3. Environmental & Sanitary Compliance
- Manage construction waste sorting (per Environmental Quality Act 1974), control dust and noise pollution.
- Inspect temporary sanitary facilities (e.g., worker toilets, drinking areas) to comply with local authority (PBT) regulations.
III. Resource Coordination & Documentation
1. Material & Equipment Management
- Inspect incoming materials (cross-check delivery notes with orders), verify MS certification labels (e.g., steel bars, cement).
- Coordinate machinery scheduling (e.g., excavators, cranes), log equipment usage time and malfunctions.
2. Labor Management
- Monitor attendance of foreign laborers (commonly from Bangladesh, Indonesia), assist in resolving language barriers.
- Collaborate with the main contractor’s HR department to address worker disputes or misconduct.
3. Documentation
- Complete daily Site Diaries, recording weather, personnel, equipment, issues, and resolutions.
- Organize on-site photos/videos as evidence for quality and safety compliance.
IV. Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
1. Internal Communication
- Report field issues (e.g., design conflicts, subcontractor delays) to the Project Manager/Civil Manager.
- Participate in internal meetings to propose efficiency improvements.
2. External Coordination
- Liaise with Client Representatives or Consultants during routine inspections.
- Accompany government agencies (e.g., CIDB, JKR) during site visits and provide required documents.
V. Emergency Response
- Activate contingency plans (e.g., flooding from heavy rain, worker injuries), control the scene promptly, and elevate incidents.
- Assist in accident investigations and execute corrective orders (e.g., work suspension notices).
Requirements:
- Diploma or above in Civil Engineerng, Construction Management or related fields
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on local site experience, familiar with main contractor‑subcontractor workflows.
- Mandatory CIDB Site Supervisor Certification (Green Card).
- Proficiency in basic surveying tools (level meters, measuring tapes) and software (AutoCAD Viewer).
- Soft Skills: Strong stress tolerance, adaptable to prolonged outdoor work in high‑temperature and rainy environments.
