Job summary

Cekal Tulin Development Sdn Bhd is seeking a Site Quantity Surveyor in Malaysia to manage cost and contract matters on construction projects. The role involves measurement, valuation, progress claim verification, variation order preparation, and cost control to ensure projects stay within budget.

You will measure quantities from drawings, prepare and evaluate VO, monitor costs, liaise with site team, consultants and subcontractors, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• A Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of construction site experience.
• Familiar with drawings and measurement work.
• Knowledge of contract administration and standard forms of contract.
• Able to work independently at a site office.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience with government projects preferred.
• Familiar with variation orders and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly progress claims to client; coordinate valuations.
• Measure site quantities from drawings and records.
• Assist in evaluation of variation orders (VO).
• Monitor and update project cost reports regularly.
• Liaise with site team, consultants and subcontractors on measurements and costing.
• Check and evaluate subcontractor claims and invoices.
• Maintain records of measurements, VO and payments.
• Record and update all contractual documents.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate QS matters with project team.
• Highlight cost impacts, risks or discrepancies to management.

Job description

The Site Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all cost and contractual matters related to construction projects at site level. The role includes measurement, valuation, progress claim verification, variation order preparation, and cost control to ensure the project is completed within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation and submission of monthly progress claim to client, arrangement of joint valuation with client/consultants and follow up with the interim payment certificate and payment
• Measure site work quantities based on drawings, site records, and actual progress
• Assist in preparation and evaluation of variation orders (VO)
• Monitor project cost and update cost reports regularly
• Liaise with site team, consultants, and subcontractors on measurement and costing matters
• Check and evaluate subcontractor claims and invoices
• Maintain proper records of site measurements, VO, and payment documents
• Ensure all contractual documents are properly recorded and updated
• Attend site meetings and coordinate QS matters with project team
• Highlight any cost impact, risks or discrepancies to management

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction (site-based experience preferred)
• Familiar with construction drawings and measurement work
• Knowledge of contract administration and standard forms of contract
• Able to use Microsoft Office
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Able to work independently at site office environment
• Experience in building or infrastructure especially government project
• Familiar with variation order and final account preparation
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
