Qualifications

• Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and positive customer interaction.
• Friendly, approachable attitude with commitment to service.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in a team.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift items as needed.
• Basic numeracy and familiarity with POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Providing friendly, helpful and professional service to all customers whilst maintaining a positive attitude and demeanour.
• Operating the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently, processing customer transactions with care and precision.
• Stocking shelves and product displays with neatness and attention to merchandising standards.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout the store, including regular tidying and restocking of areas.
• Assisting customers with product location, information and recommendations based on their needs.
• Handling customer enquiries and complaints professionally and escalating issues to management when necessary.
• Monitoring stock levels and informing supervisors of items requiring replenishment.
• Following all company policies, procedures and health and safety regulations.
• Supporting team members to ensure smooth store operations and a positive working environment.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our team at KK SUPER MART Taman Maluri. This is a full-time position based in Maluri, Kuala Lumpur. As a Shop Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional shopping experience to our customers, ensuring our store operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is fundamental to maintaining our reputation for excellent customer service and maintaining our store standards.

Key responsibilities

• Providing friendly, helpful and professional service to all customers whilst maintaining a positive attitude and demeanour
• Operating the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently, processing customer transactions with care and precision

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Retail Assistant, Sales Assistant or in a similar customer-facing retail role (preferred but not essential)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues
• A friendly, approachable personality with genuine enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service
• Reliability and commitment to punctuality and regular attendance
• Ability to work as part of a team whilst also being capable of working independently when required
• Physical capability to perform tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting and stocking products
• Basic numeracy skills and comfort with using point-of-sale systems
• Flexibility with shift patterns, including potential weekend and public holiday work
• Willingness to learn and adapt to company procedures and best practices
