Job summary

Singtel KL in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Technical Manager to provide operational support and maintenance for the IP VPN backbone network, ensuring high network availability and service reliability.

You will collaborate with engineering teams on network expansion, upgrades, and incident resolution while maintaining service continuity and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of IP network operations, telecommunications infrastructure, network support, or a similar technical role.
• Experience supporting IP VPN networks, network operations, infrastructure maintenance, incident management, and change implementation.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for the IP VPN backbone network to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Coordinate change implementation, provisioning, and maintenance across Singtel POPs.
• Install, replace, and upgrade network equipment including routers and switches.
• Support hardware/software upgrades and infrastructure enhancements.
• Assist with circuit migrations and network expansion initiatives.
• Perform fault isolation, testing, and troubleshooting to restore services quickly.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for equipment replacement and incident resolution.
• Ensure timely restoration of services with minimal customer impact.
• Monitor network health and conduct preventive maintenance at POP sites.

We are looking for a Technical Manager to provide operational support and maintenance for the IP VPN backbone network, ensuring high network availability, service reliability, and operational excellence. You will also support network expansion, infrastructure upgrades, incident resolution, and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver new network capabilities.

1. Network Operations & Infrastructure Support

• Support operational activities for the IP VPN backbone network to ensure high network availability and service reliability.
• Coordinate and perform change implementation, provisioning, and maintenance activities across Singtel Points of Presence (POPs).
• Install, replace, and upgrade network equipment, including routers, switches, and associated hardware components.
• Support hardware and software upgrades, including operating system upgrades and infrastructure enhancements.
• Assist with customer circuit migrations, console port transfers, and network expansion initiatives.
• Perform on-site fault isolation, cable testing, and troubleshooting to restore network services efficiently.
• Coordinate with vendors, partners, and internal teams to manage equipment replacement, site access, and incident resolution.
• Support vendor and customer engineers during installation, maintenance, and service recovery activities.
• Ensure timely restoration of services while minimizing customer impact.

3. Network Maintenance & Operational Excellence

• Conduct routine health checks, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping activities at POP sites.
• Monitor environmental conditions and equipment health to maintain optimal network performance.
• Inspect and maintain network infrastructure to support operational reliability and early fault detection.
• Ensure planned maintenance activities are completed within approved maintenance windows.

4. Project & Change Implementation

• Support engineering teams in implementing new network products, features, and infrastructure deployments.
• Coordinate change activities to ensure operational readiness and successful implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver network enhancements while maintaining service continuity.

5. Stakeholder Management & Reporting

• Build strong working relationships with internal teams, vendors, partners, and customers to support operational objectives.
• Organize and facilitate regular service review meetings with partners to review incidents, identify improvements, and track action plans.
• Prepare operational reports, productivity metrics, technical documentation, and service performance updates for management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve operational processes and service quality.

Skills for Success

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IP network operations, telecommunications infrastructure, network support, or a similar technical role.
• Experience supporting IP VPN networks, network operations, infrastructure maintenance, incident management, and change implementation.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS/VPN, and Internet routing technologies.
• Knowledge of router and switch architecture, hardware installation, software upgrades, and network troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform technical fault isolation and resolution.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience with Cisco or Juniper networking equipment and relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS) is an advantage.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Perl) and network automation is an advantage.
