Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Malaysia invites experienced professionals to join our Trade Finance Operations team in Kuala Lumpur. You will oversee end-to-end transaction processing, ensure compliance with international trade standards, and support risk mitigation.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in Trade Finance Operations, solid knowledge of UCP600/ISBP, and strong leadership and communication skills. Certification as a Documentary Credit Specialist is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have 5–7 years of Trade Finance Operations experience in banking.
• Basic knowledge of statutory requirements and related rules.
• Responsible for accurate checking of trade documents and sanctions compliance.
• Good knowledge of UCP600, ISBP and international trade practices.
• Leadership and strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end daily transaction processing and department activities.
• Ensure tasks are completed within the required time frame and in compliance with internal controls.
• Provide day-to-day support for transactional activities and customer inquiries.
• Resolve routine issues and assist branches with investigations and problem solving.
• Oversee defect and complaint management and timely reporting to management/regulators.
• Collaborate with other operations teams to resolve exceptions and improve processes.
