Job summary

AMD is seeking an experienced System Thermal Design Staff Engineer in Penang to lead thermal design and validation for server, AI, and datacenter platforms.

You will collaborate with ODM partners, drive thermal strategy, perform chamber testing, and mentor engineers while delivering robust, high-quality thermal solutions on schedule.

Applicants should have 8+ years in thermal engineering, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with FloTHERM/Icepak and CFD for ODM programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience.
• Experience leading thermal engineering activities with ODM/OEM partners for server or datacenter platform development.
• Strong experience in system-level thermal design and validation for CPU/GPU platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-level thermal design and validation activities for CPU/GPU server and AI platforms.
• Develop and execute thermal validation plans, methodologies, and system thermal design strategies.
• Drive thermal characterization and thermal margin analysis across workloads, configurations, and environments.
• Lead thermal issue debugging, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize system thermal solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and manage ODM thermal execution and schedule alignment.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement in processes.
