Job summary

Axonect in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Administrator to manage and optimize RHEL and Amazon Linux servers across on-premises, VMware, AWS, and private clouds. You will install, patch, monitor, and secure systems while supporting hybrid infrastructure.

The role requires 4+ years of hands-on Linux experience, strong scripting in Bash/Python, and familiarity with ITIL/ISO 27001 guidelines. Collaboration across teams and after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science/IT/Engineering or related field
• 4+ years hands-on Linux SysAdmin, Systems Engineering, or Infra Ops
• Strong experience with RHEL and Amazon Linux
• Hybrid infrastructure across on‑prem, VMware, AWS, and private cloud
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SMTP, certificates, storage, backup, HA, DR, monitoring
• Scripting and automation with Bash, Python, Ansible, AWS Systems Manager
• Understanding of Linux security, access control, OS hardening, vulnerability mgmt, ITSM
• Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, AWS, VMware, ITIL are desirable
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and participate in after-hours support

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize RHEL and Amazon Linux servers across on-prem, VMware, AWS, and private cloud environments
• Manage OS installation, configurations, upgrades, patching, repositories, services, filesystems, storage, and lifecycle activities
• Support Linux services including DNS, NTP, SMTP relay, certificates, SSH, authentication, and directory integrations
• Monitor performance, capacity, availability, health, and troubleshoot infrastructure and app issues
• Maintain Linux-based application platforms like Apache Tomcat and middleware
• Implement Linux security hardening, vulnerability remediation, access reviews, and compliance controls
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, Ansible, AWS Systems Manager, or similar tools
• Operate and monitor Linux storage, filesystems, EBS volumes, backups, and recovery processes
• Perform backup verification, DR exercises, and support high availability and business continuity
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, procedures, configuration records, and audit evidence
• Identify opportunities for automation, performance optimization, capacity planning, and service improvement
• Prepare operational reports, incident updates, RCA inputs, and technical recommendations with tech teams

Person Specifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in Linux Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Operations
• Strong practical experience administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Amazon Linux
• Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure across on-premises data centers, VMware, AWS, and private cloud environments
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SMTP, certificates, storage, backup, high availability, disaster recovery, and monitoring tools
• Practical scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, Ansible, AWS Systems Manager, or equivalent tools
• Understanding of Linux security, access control, authentication, OS hardening, vulnerability management, and IT service management practices
• Familiarity with ITIL, ISO 27001, and relevant regulatory or governance requirements is an advantage
• Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, AWS, VMware, or ITIL are desirable
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, collaborate across teams, and participate in after-hours support when required
