Job summary

CTOS Data Systems is seeking a hands-on Executive, System Engineer to administer and optimize RHEL/Amazon Linux across AWS, VMware, and private clouds in Malaysia. The role covers Windows Server, AD, and cross-platform support, with a focus on automation and security best practices.

You will patch, harden, monitor, and document configurations while coordinating with infrastructure teams. 2–5 years of Linux/infra experience is expected, with strong scripting skills and governance awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in CS/IT/Engineering.
• RHCSA/RHCE, AWS SysOps/SAA, VMware VCP, or ITIL 4 Foundation advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of RHEL and Amazon Linux with cloud and security practices.
• Familiarity with governance such as BNM RMiT, MoF, ISO 27001 advantageous.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Executive, SystemEngineer serves as the primary hands-on engineer for enterprise Linux and cloudplatforms, while also providing dependable secondary support for Windowsinfrastructure. The role is responsible for their administration, monitoring,maintenance, security, automation, and operational resilience across datacenter, AWS, and private cloud environments, with particular focus on Red HatEnterprise Linux (RHEL) and Amazon Linux. The role also provides versatilesupport for Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, storage, backup, anddisaster recovery services. Reporting to the Asst. Manager- System Engineering,the incumbent will resolve incidents, execute approved changes, maintaintechnical documentation, and ensure Linux services remain secure, stable,recoverable, and compliant.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer,monitor, patch, troubleshoot, and optimize RHEL and Amazon Linux serversacross physical, VMware, AWS, and private cloud environments.
• ManageLinux operating system installation, configuration, upgrades,repositories, packages, services, filesystems, LVM, permissions, sudo,SSH, and scheduled jobs.
• Provisionand support workloads, templates, lifecycle management, capacity,availability, and integration with virtualization, storage, network, andidentity services. and related AWS services and TIME Cloud Services.
• Supportcore Linux services and integrations including DNS, NTP, SMTP relay,certificates, authentication, directory integration, and networkconfiguration.
• Respondto incidents and service requests within agreed service levels, escalatingcomplex issues with clear diagnostics and impact details.
• ExecuteLinux patching, vulnerability remediation, OS hardening, access reviews,certificate renewals, and configuration changes in accordance withchange-management procedures.
• Applysecure Linux configuration standards, investigate operating system andauthentication logs, and support endpoint, vulnerability, andprivileged-access controls.
• Developand maintain Bash, Python, Ansible, or AWS Systems Manager automation forprovisioning, configuration, health checks, patching, reporting, andrepetitive operational tasks.
• Maintainaccurate asset, configuration, access, patch, and operational records tosupport internal audits and regulatory requirements.
• Followapplicable IT policies, ITIL practices, BNM RMiT, MoF, and ISO 27001controls relevant to assigned systems and activities.

Backup, Recovery& Resilience

• Operate andmonitor Linux storage, filesystems, mounts, multipathing, EBS volumes,backup agents, and recovery processes across SAN/NAS, AWS, and privatecloud environments.
• Performscheduled backup verification, Linux file and system restoration tests,and disaster recovery exercises; document results and address identifiedgaps.
• Support Linuxclustering, high availability, service recovery, and business continuityarrangements for mission-critical services, including after-hoursactivities when required.
• Create andmaintain RHEL and Amazon Linux build standards, SOPs, runbooks,architecture records, configuration documents, troubleshooting guides, andoperational checklists.
• Identifyrecurring Linux issues and opportunities for automation, standardization,performance tuning, capacity optimization, and service improvement.
• Prepare clearoperational reports, incident updates, root-cause inputs, and technicalrecommendations for review by the Asst. Manager.

Windows &Cross-Platform Support

• Administerand troubleshoot Windows Server operating systems, including patching,services, event logs, performance, storage, access, and approvedconfiguration changes.
• SupportActive Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificates, service accounts,authentication, and Windows integration with Linux and cloud workloads.
• Providesupporting coverage for VMware, storage, backup, monitoring, and disasterrecovery platforms to maintain team versatility and service continuity.
• Participatein infrastructure migrations, cloud adoption, security, and resilienceprojects, coordinating with application, network, cybersecurity, servicedesk, vendor, and business teams.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Qualifications

• Bachelor'sDegree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, ora related field.
• Relevantcertifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator orSolutions Architect, VMware VCP, Microsoft certification, or ITIL 4 Foundationare advantageous.
• Strongworking knowledge of RHEL and Amazon Linux administration, with exposure toAWS, private cloud, Windows, virtualization, identity, storage, backup,disaster recovery, and cybersecurity practices.
• Awarenessof BNM RMiT, MoF, ISO 27001, or other governance requirements in a regulatedenvironment is advantageous.

Work Experience

• Approximately2-5 years of hands-on experience in Linux systems administration, systemsengineering, or infrastructure operations.
• Practicalexperience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Amazon Linux in enterpriseenvironments; exposure to other Linux distributions is advantageous.
• Experienceadministering Linux in hybrid infrastructure covering data center, VMware, AWS,and private cloud environments.
• Workingexperience supporting Windows Server and Active Directory in an enterpriseenvironment.
• Experiencewith incident, problem, change, patch, backup, monitoring, and technicaldocumentation processes.
• Experiencein financial services or another regulated industry is advantageous.
• Stronghands-on RHEL and Amazon Linux administration and troubleshooting skills,including systemd, RPM/YUM/DNF, repositories, filesystems, LVM, permissions,SSH, sudo, logging, and performance analysis.
• Workingknowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SMTP, certificates, storage, backup, clustering,high availability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure monitoring.
• Practicalability to use Bash, Python, Ansible, AWS Systems Manager, or similarautomation and configuration-management tools to improve operationalefficiency.
• Soundanalytical skills, attention to detail, and a structured approach to incidentdiagnosis and root-cause analysis.
• Goodunderstanding of Linux access control, authentication, OS hardening,vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, and operational risk.
• Competencein Windows Server and Active Directory administration, with versatility acrossVMware, storage, backup, monitoring, and hybrid-cloud technologies.
• Clearwritten and verbal communication skills, including concise technicaldocumentation and stakeholder updates.
• Abilityto prioritize work, collaborate across teams, take ownership of assigned tasks,and participate in after-hours support when required.
