Job summary

Johnson Matthey in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Database Engineer on a Renewable Fixed-Term Contract to design, implement, and support SQL Server environments both on premises and in Azure. You will drive lifecycle management, performance tuning, security, and DR planning while collaborating across IT teams to ensure reliable data services for analytics and reporting.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration in enterprise environments.
Experience with SQL Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and newer versions.
Experience across on-premises and Azure SQL environments.
Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, administer, and support SQL Server environments on-prem and in Azure.
Manage lifecycle activities: installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations.
Implement HA/DR solutions such as Always On, Failover Clustering, backup/recovery.
Monitor and optimize performance, tune queries, manage indexes and health checks.
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and analytics teams; lead migrations and upgrades.
