Job summary

SearchApi is recruiting a senior Ruby on Rails engineer to become the technical backbone of our product. You will own the hardest PRs, raise the bar for the codebase, and relieve the CEO from technical load. This is a hands-on, high-trust role, not management, with production code across the whole product.

Join a bootstrapped, profitable team building real-time SERP data tools. Remote-first, ownership of features, and direct collaboration with leadership are central to this role.

Qualifications

• Many years of Rails experience with production apps.
• Not a mid-level role; expect senior ownership.
• Stripe experience required for billing work.
• Product thinker with focus on customer needs.
• Good design sense and ability to ship clean UI.
• Security-minded with awareness of vulnerabilities.
• Up-to-date with Rails releases and AI developments.
• Compounding mindset: seek long-term improvements.
• Strong writing skills for PRs and docs.

Responsibilities

• Own the hardest PRs and ship complex features with senior judgment.
• Review peers' PRs and mentor through code reviews.
• Build enterprise features (SAML, SCIM, audit logs, permissions).
• Handle billing/payments; Stripe integrations and subscriptions.
• Create and iterate on product features and developer experience.
• Develop in-house algorithms and optimize performance.
• Work with native gems and low-level bindings when needed.
• Ship frontend with TailwindUI; maintain security standards.
• Stay current with Rails and AI; adopt beneficial changes.
