Job summary

SearchApi is looking for an engineering manager who can own delivery end to end, surface risk early, and be the first escalation point when something breaks. You’ll lead with clear writing and strong decisions, creating Managers of One on a lean, bootstrapped team.

You’ll work remotely, own cadences, track progress across all active projects, and design processes that scale as the company grows. This role emphasizes accountability over theater and demands technical credibility and calm

Qualifications

• A written example of how you ran a delivery process or unblocked a team: a real retro, an incident RCA, or a process you designed and rolled out.
• Experience leading a small, high-output engineering team with incident command experience.
• A track record of hiring at a high bar.

Responsibilities

• Run the cadences: planning, standups, and retros; keep them lightweight and useful.
• Track every active project and surface risk before it becomes a fire.
• Own delivery metrics: cycle time, review latency, and reliability.
• Coordinate incidents and run blameless RCAs that change outcomes.
• Grow the team: conduct 1:1s, coaching, and build a hiring pipeline with a high bar.
