TE Connectivity Ltd. is seeking a Senior R&D Product Development Engineer in Penang to design socket, high-speed connector and cable assembly solutions for data center switches, servers and storage.

The role focuses on designing and documenting new products from market definition through production, with responsibilities spanning concept development, simulations, DFMEA, prototypes, and validation in a global, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 5 years of mechanical engineering experience with electrical components and tooling experience.
• Knowledge of socket/connector/cable assembly design and related tolerances.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (Creo preferred) with 2D drawings and GD&T knowledge.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for global collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and TE teams to capture VOC and translate to design specs.
• Conceive concepts and conduct feasibility studies.
• Run mechanical and thermal simulations.
• Prepare DFMEA and tolerance analyses, and develop detailed designs.
• Build prototypes and perform validation and qualification.
• Support operations during launches and manage change notifications (ECN/PCN).
• Coordinate with global teams to ensure on-time, within-budget development.
