Job summary

TE Connectivity Penang seeks a Sr. R&D PDE to design and develop sockets, high-speed connectors and cable assemblies for data center applications. You will drive from market definition to production, producing 2D/3D drawings, DFMEA, and validation, while coordinating with TE teams to ensure timely releases.

The role requires a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, 5+ years of related experience, strong GD&T and Creo-based CAD skills, and fluent English. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering work experience with electrical components/connector design or manufacturing process development.
• Knowledge in socket/connector/cable assembly design including material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and product qualification.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and able to create 2D drawings and design documentation.
• GD&T proficiency and basic knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, molding, plating, assembly).
• Fluent in English (verbal and written) to coordinate with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead product development of socket, high-speed connector, and cable assembly solutions from market definition through production and release.
• Create detailed designs including 2D/3D drawings; perform DFMEA and tolerance analysis.
• Build prototypes, run validations, and support operations for efficient launches.
• Coordinate with global teams and customers to ensure VOC is captured and design goals are met.
• Maintain design history files and manage ECN/PCN processes.
