Job summary

Better Protein Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance & Halal Executive to lead QA, food safety, and Halal management systems.

You will oversee ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, FSMS, HAS, audits, documentation, and CAPA, driving continuous improvement across production, R&D, and procurement.

Lead and develop the QA & Halal team; ensure product release accuracy, calibration of lab equipment, and training for staff across departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and/or Halal management within the food manufacturing industry.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, FSMS, and Halal requirements.
• Experience in managing or coordinating JAKIM Halal certification and Halal Assurance System (HAS).
• Experience in conducting internal audits and managing external regulatory or certification audits.
• Strong knowledge of quality documentation, CAPA, root cause analysis, traceability, and food safety practices.
• Experience in supervising or leading a QA team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the QA team in inspection, testing, verification, and monitoring of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in accordance with ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, and applicable food safety regulations.
• Establish and maintain quality standards, specifications, procedures, work instructions, and quality control requirements.
• Lead and conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits by certification bodies, customers, and regulatory authorities.
• Review and approve QA-related documents, including SOPs, specifications, batch records, deviation reports, investigation reports, and CAPA.
• Oversee product release processes and ensure product traceability, documentation accuracy, and compliance.
• Monitor quality performance, non-conformances, customer complaints, and quality trends, and drive appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead investigations into quality issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive measures.
• Work closely with Production, R&D, Procurement, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve product and process consistency.
• Ensure proper calibration, verification, and maintenance of laboratory and measuring equipment.
• Establish and monitor QA-related KPIs and provide regular performance reports and recommendations to management.
• Conduct training and coaching for QA personnel to strengthen technical competency and quality awareness.
