Job summary

ERS Energy Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to own engineering delivery on a utility-scale solar construction project in Malaysia. You will coordinate between the design team, procurement, subcontractors and the Client, ensuring drawings, materials and construction methods align with design and are delivered on site.

This is a site-based role with relocation and travel as project requirements dictate.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in EPCC or large-scale construction project delivery is expected.
• Ability to interpret multidisciplinary technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret drawings, specs, and project documents, coordinating with design engineers to secure engineering packages on schedule.
• Track engineering deliverables against milestones, flag slippage, and propose corrective action.
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure equipment and material specs match design intent; review vendor submissions.
• Monitor material deliveries and interface with logistics and warehouse teams.
• Resolve technical challenges on site with subcontractors and Owner's Engineer; ensure design revisions are communicated and implemented.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to take ownership of engineering delivery on a utility-scale solar construction project. Reporting to the Construction Manager/Project Manager, you will be the technical anchor between the design team, procurement, subcontractors and the Client. Your job is to make sure the right drawings, the right materials and the right construction methods arrive on site at the right time, and that what is built matches what was designed. This is a site-based role with relocation and travel as project requirements dictate.

In this role you will:

• Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications and project documents, and coordinate with design engineers to secure engineering packages on schedule.
• Track engineering deliverables against project milestones, flagging slippage early and proposing corrective action.
• Work with procurement to ensure equipment and material specifications match design intent, review vendor technical submissions and support technical bid evaluations.
• Monitor material deliveries and manage the interface with logistics and warehouse teams.
• Resolve technical challenges on site together with subcontractors, consultants and the Owner's Engineer, ensuring design revisions are communicated clearly and implemented correctly.
• Oversee construction activities for compliance with approved designs, applicable codes, quality standards and HSE requirements.
• Support QAQC in monitoring subcontractor works, raise inspection requests, and take ownership of Non-Conformance Reports through to closure.
• Develop the Project Execution Plan and construction method statements, and support document control in keeping drawings and project records current.
• Provide engineering input to daily, weekly and monthly progress reporting, and represent engineering at project progress meetings.
• Support the Testing and Commissioning team with technical documentation, system testing, performance validation and final handover.
• Mentor junior engineers, identify skill gaps within the team, and lead root cause analysis on recurring technical or material issues.
• Work with the Construction Manager to improve buildability and reduce design-related rework.
• Success in this role looks like engineering packages delivered on schedule, minimal rework from design revisions, technical issues resolved or escalated within 48 hours, NCRs closed within the project timeline, and complete engineering documentation ready ahead of system testing.

Expected Candidate Profile

• Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6 years or more in EPCC or large-scale construction project delivery, with at least 1 years in a senior or lead construction/engineering capacity.
• Able to interpret and coordinate multidisciplinary technical drawings and specifications.
• Sound understanding of construction methodology, quality standards and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to coordinate and engage stakeholders across design, procurement and site teams.
• Competent in technical analysis, field inspections and resolution of Non-Conformance Reports.
• Comfortable using digital tools for progress reporting, drawing control and material tracking.
• Leadership and mentoring mindset, with the ability to develop junior engineers and lift team performance.
• Proactive in identifying risks, delays and constraints, and in proposing practical corrective action.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Valid driving license, and willing to be based on site, relocate and travel as required.

Added advantage:

• Experience on utility-scale solar or Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects.
• Working knowledge of solar plant systems, including mounting structures, inverters, cabling and grid integration.
