Job summary

QUEST ENERGY SDN BHD is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to design and supervise utility-scale solar PV projects. You will plan equipment and interconnections, coordinate with teams and subcontractors, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.

The role requires 2–3 years in solar PV design/engineering, GCPV/OGPV certifications are a plus, and fluency in English, Malay, and Mandarin. Travel to site locations will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• 2–3 years of Solar PV design/engineering experience.
• GCPV and/or OGPV certifications are a plus.
• Proficient in English, Malay, and Mandarin.
• Experience with utility-scale PV projects.
• Own transportation and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to plan equipment and interconnection locations.
• Develop and review designs of solar systems (electrical, structural, and mechanical).
• Confirm DC equipment and AC interconnection locations with the design team.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors and monitor workmanship.
• Manage design changes and licensing/documentation with authorities.
• Set up remote monitoring and perform test and commissioning.
• Review deliverables at milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
• Attend site meetings and handover.
• Create and finalize Bills of Materials (BoM) per standards.
• Weekly project scheduling and reporting.
• Implement best practices and safe work procedures.
• Additional responsibilities as needed.

Job description

Conduct engineering site visit to plan equipment and interconnection locations at the site and connection to the existing electrical system.

Develop, supervise, and/or review designs of commercial and industrial scale solar systems, including but not limited to the electrical, structural and mechanical aspects of the projects.

Work with design team to confirm engineering design to decide DC equipment and AC interconnection locations at the site and connections to the existing electrical system.

Liaise and manage sub-contractors for their scope of works, schedules and monitoring workmanship qualities of subcontractors during installation.

Record, implement and manage design change requirements.

Work with internal and/or external parties such as TNB, consulting firms, local authorities on licensing matters and documentation.

Liaise and coordinate with TNB HQ & local authorities on meter installation and grid interconnection of solar PV system.

Setup remote monitoring system and conduct test & commissioning of the solar PV systems.

Review deliverables at project milestones to ensure the project is within timeline and budget.

Attend all necessary project site meetings when required to ensure a smooth handover.

Create details Bills of Materials (BoM) for projects. Experience in creating and finalizing BoM with required standards and specifications from the plant design.

Weekly reporting and new project scheduling.

Implement best practices and safe work procedure throughout the project on site.

Requirements

Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

Minimum 2 – 3 years of working experience in designing & engineering of Solar PV projects.

Possesses of Grid- Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) and/ or Off – Grid Photovoltaic (OGPV) certification will be an added advantage.

Proficient in English , Bahasa Malaysia & Mandarin, both written and spoken. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Experience in designing & engineering of utility scale Solar PV systems will be an added advantage.

Experience in managing solar PV project execution will be an added advantage.

Posses own transportation and willing to travel when required
