Job summary

Global Environment Centre in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Programme Officer for the River Care Programme to support river basin management, water conservation and climate resilience through nature‑based solutions and community education. The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement, workshops and activities that build sustainable partnerships and project outcomes.

You will collaborate with government, private sector, universities and local communities, contribute to ESG and awareness programmes,

Qualifications

• Willing to be stationed at GEC’s HQ in PJ, Selangor.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in teams.
• Strong interest in green and brown issues in rural and urban areas.
• Experience in project planning and implementation.
• Minimum degree in Environment Conservation or related field.
• Environmental education experience is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of water volumetric balance.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia with good writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and be independent at project sites.
• Driving license and own transport is an advantage.
• IT skills in Word, Excel, and social media content creation.
• Able to work flexibly, including weekends if required.

SENIOR PROGRAMME OFFICER - RIVER CARE PROGRAMME

To support implementation of activities related to river basin management, water conservation, environmental stewardship, resource management mainly through nature-based solutions as well pollution dan disaster management especially flood preparedness and community resilience,

To promote stakeholder mainly community engagement, community participation, building positive partnership through integrated river basin management

To establish link with community groups and engage them in the project through series of activities, workshops, events and initiatives which lead to project sustainability

Work with existing and new stakeholders including government, private sector, university, community and public to plan and deliver outcome that help to increase greater sense of stakeholder ownership into integrated river basin management.

Contribute in planning and development of materials for sustainable water management including implementation of local biodiversity action plan, river water quality, volumetric water benefit and river health, as well as climate change.

Able to support, organize and contribute to GEC’s environmental education, ESG and awareness programme

Assist in discussion, preparation and development of project/collaboration and CSR activities

To support project visibility and communication as key face among the local community and stakeholders during the project planning, implementation and sustainable phase.

Seeking proactive team players who can work independently with minimal supervision, take ownership of tasks, and deliver impactful results in line with project implementation requirements

Seeking dedicated candidates who can perform well under pressure and actively contribute to achieving the organisation’s vision

Requirements :

Willing to be station in GEC’s HQ in PJ, Selangor

Minimum Degree in the Environment Conservation, related or equivalent.

Environmental Education experience is an added advantage.
