Job summary

Global Environment Centre (GEC) invites a Senior Programme Officer to support river basin management and community engagement initiatives in Selangor, Malaysia. The role focuses on nature-based solutions, water conservation, and climate resilience, working with government, private sector, universities, and communities.

The officer will develop materials, coordinate activities, and promote sustainability through ESG and awareness programmes, requiring travel to project sites and ability to work

Qualifications

• Willing to be stationed at GEC's HQ in PJ, Selangor.
• Experience in project planning and implementation.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia with good writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Driving license and own transport is an advantage.
• IT competency with Word, Excel and social media content creation.
• Able to work flexibly, including weekends if required.
• Well-vested in green and brown issues across rural and urban areas.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of river basin management activities and water conservation initiatives.
• Engage stakeholders through community workshops, events and partnerships.
• Assist in developing materials for sustainable water management and biodiversity actions.
• Support environmental education, ESG and awareness programmes.
• Contribute to project visibility and communication with local communities.
