Job summary

Mölnlycke is hiring a Senior Process Scientist for Latex & Chemical Systems at the Malaysia Kulim Hi-Tech Factory. You will lead investigations, develop control strategies, and apply advanced analytics to improve product quality, yield, and manufacturing performance.

The role requires experience with high-volume medical device manufacturing and PFMEA/DOE methodologies. You will collaborate with QA, R&D, Engineering, Maintenance, and suppliers to digitalise processes and protect IP while driving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Process/Materials-related field; master’s preferred.
  • Experience with high-volume, regulated manufacturing environments is required or preferred.
  • Strong background in latex/chemical systems and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations into latex, chemicals, raw materials, and formulations to improve quality and process performance.
  • Develop robust process control strategies, parameter limits, monitoring, escalation, and reaction plans.
  • Apply SPC, MSA, DOE, and capability studies to identify risks and resolve defects.
  • Support PFMEA, control plans, validation, and digitalisation initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in defect reduction, yield, productivity, and material efficiency.
  • Provide technical findings to cross-functional stakeholders and coach teams on data-driven decisions.

Senior Process Scientist - Latex & Chemical Systems

We are looking for a Senior Process Scientist – Latex & Chemical Systems to drive innovation and operational excellence across our surgical glove manufacturing operations.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership, strengthen process understanding and control, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, yield, and manufacturing performance.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact in this role:

  • Lead scientific investigations into latex, chemicals, raw materials, formulation stability, and manufacturing processes to improve product quality and process performance.
  • Develop robust process control strategies, critical parameter limits, monitoring requirements, escalation procedures, and reaction plans.
  • Apply data-driven tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Design of Experiments (DOE), process capability studies, and structured troubleshooting methodologies, to identify process risks and resolve recurring defects.
  • Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), control plans, process validation, digitalisation, test method development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in defect reduction, scrap and rework reduction, yield, productivity, material efficiency, and long-term process stability.
  • Provide technical recommendations, communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders, and coach teams on latex behaviour, chemical interactions, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify emerging technologies and external collaboration opportunities while protecting intellectual property, confidentiality, impartiality, and technical integrity.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Automation Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or higher qualification is preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, process integration, technical operations, validation, manufacturing excellence, automation, digital manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in high-volume, regulated, medical device, glove, polymer-processing, or process-based manufacturing is preferred.
  • Strong experience in cross-functional troubleshooting, process control, PFMEA, Control Plans, validation, process capability, SPC, MSA, DOE, 8D, and structured problem-solving is preferred.
  • Experience working across Production, QA, R&D, Engineering, Maintenance, Automation, Digitalisation, Process Science, suppliers, or external technical partners would be an advantage.
  • Experience translating process requirements into digital monitoring, automation, SCADA, MES, data historian, or process dashboard requirements would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable improvements in process stability, quality, yield, scrap, rework, productivity, manufacturability, or control effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of relevant quality management systems and standards, such as ISO 13485, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FDA QSR, MDSAP, or equivalent systems, would be an advantage.
