Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, industrial engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in plant controlling, product costing, manufacturing finance, or cost accounting.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze manufacturing and operational costs across lines or units.
• Manage overhead cost allocation and cost centre controlling activities.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend corrective action plans.
• Track CapEx, tooling investments and resource utilisation.
• Coordinate annual planning and forecast cycles.
• Prepare financial forecasts and scenario analyses.
• Calculate and maintain product costs and cost structures.
• Analyse product cost drivers and support pricing and profitability evaluations.
• Conduct make-or-buy analyses and business case assessments.
• Monitor production KPIs including OEE, FPY, cycle time, and throughput time.
• Participate in value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support monthly and year-end closing; prepare management reports.

About the Role

A global manufacturing company in Penang's Free Trade Zone is looking for a Senior Plant Controller to manage manufacturing costs, product costing, and financial reporting. You'll work closely with production and operations teams, so comfort with the factory floor is just as important as the finance fundamentals.

What You'll Be Doing

Cost Controlling, Analysis & Planning

• Monitor and analyse manufacturing and operational costs across assigned production lines or business units
• Manage overhead cost allocation and cost centre controlling activities
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend corrective action plans
• Track capital expenditure (CapEx), tooling investments, and resource utilisation
• Coordinate annual business planning and periodic forecast cycles
• Prepare financial forecasts and scenario analyses

Product Costing & Profitability

• Calculate and maintain product costs and manufacturing cost structures
• Analyse product cost drivers and support pricing and profitability evaluations
• Conduct make-or-buy analyses and business case assessments

Manufacturing Performance

• Monitor production KPIs including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), FPY (First Pass Yield), cycle time, and throughput time
• Participate in value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives

Reporting & Compliance

• Support monthly and year-end financial closing activities
• Prepare management reports, dashboards, and financial analyses
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and audit requirements
• Maintain the quality and accuracy of financial and operational data

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in plant controlling, product costing, manufacturing finance, or cost accounting
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of product costing, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
• Proficient in SAP CO and advanced Microsoft Excel
• Analytical and comfortable working with cross-functional teams
• Good communicator with solid stakeholder management skills
