Job summary

Celestica is expanding its Penang Design Centre and seeks a senior optical design engineer to lead system design for optical components in switch platforms. You will collect requirements, define specifications, and perform link budget calculations while coordinating with development and manufacturing teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in optical design, validation, and testing, with knowledge of coherent optics and line systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master in Science/Engineering (Optical, Physics, Laser, etc.) or closely related experience.
More than five years of experience in optical design, validation and testing; preference for network switches experience.
Knowledge of coherent optics and line systems preferred.
Experience with optical components including laser sources, DSPs, CDRs, TIAs, EDFA, ROADM, MUX/DEMUX.
Experience building optical test stations and debugging electrical and optical hardware.

Responsibilities

Design optical components for switch platforms and define validation plans.
Collect customer requirements and create detailed product specifications.
Perform link budget calculations and select key optical components.
Define testing criteria and validation activities in the design stage.
Collaborate with manufacturing and development teams; support bring-up and debugging of optical, electrical, and firmware issues.
Work with factory to establish key optical manufacturing tests and criteria.
