Celestica is expanding its Penang Design Centre and seeks a senior optical design engineer to lead system design for optical components in switch platforms. You will collect requirements, define specifications, and perform link budget calculations while coordinating with development and manufacturing teams.
Ideal candidates have 5+ years in optical design, validation, and testing, with knowledge of coherent optics and line systems.
Work on system design for optical related products in switch platforms.
Communicate with Customer, collect requirement and make product Spec.
Key Optical component selection and link budget calculation.
Define validation and testing of optical components in design stage.
Work with factory and define key optical manufacturing tests and criteria.
Support bring up and debug activities related to the optical component including electrical, optical, and firmware issues.
Work closely with both development team and manufacture teams.
RequirementsBachelor or Master in Science/Engineering (Optical, Physics, Laser, etc.) or experience in closely related technologies.
More than five years of experience in optical design, validation and testing; Prefer candidates with experience with network switches and testing network switches
Knowledge and experience with coherent optics and line systems preferred
Knowledge of key optical components including laser sources, DSPs, CDRs, TIAs, EDFA, ROADM,MUX/DEMUX etc.
Experience designing and building optical test stations and experience with DCAs, CDRs, OSAs, optical switches, VOAs, MUX/DEMUX, power meters, etc.
Experience in electrical and optical hardware debugging. Knowledge of potential failure modes for optical components.
Experience both in manufacturing and NPI design
Good communication skills in English
