Job summary

Celestica Inc. in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Senior Optical Design engineer to lead optical system design for switch platforms. You will gather requirements, define product specs, and develop validation plans while coordinating with manufacturing and development teams.

The role demands 11 to 14 years of optical design experience, a Bachelor’s or Master in Optical/Engineering, and strong English communication. Occasional travel and office-based work in Penang are expected.

Qualifications

• More than five years of experience in optical design, validation and testing.
• Knowledge of coherent optics and line systems is preferred.
• Experience with network switches and related tests is a plus.
• Familiarity with optical components such as laser sources, DSPs, CDRs, TIAs, EDFA, ROADM, MUX/DEMUX.

Responsibilities

• Work on system design for optical related products in switch platforms.
• Communicate with Customer, collect requirement and make product spec.
• Key optical component selection and link budget calculation.
• Define validation and testing of optical components in design stage.
• Work with factory and define key optical manufacturing tests and criteria.
• Support bring up and debug activities related to the optical component including electrical, optical, and firmware issues.
• Work closely with both development team and manufacture teams.
