Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
• 5-7 years of ocean freight operations experience in international freight forwarding, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of ocean cargo procedures, regulations, and documentation.
• Proven track record in contract negotiation, cost management, and vendor management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute plans.
• Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of customs regulations and international trade compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize ocean freight operations, including carrier selection, route planning, and cost management.
• Negotiate contracts and rates with shipping lines, carriers, and vendors to maximize profitability while maintaining high service levels.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, customs requirements, and industry standards governing ocean freight operations with a thorough understanding on internal security programs such as FMC, ISO, CTPAT, AEO, etc.
• Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, and other internal teams to align operations with business goals and deliver exceptional service to clients.
• Work with stakeholders to manage and respond to RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including shipping lines, port authorities, and customs officials, to facilitate smooth operations and resolve issues proactively.
• Analyze performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate operational efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the performance and status of ocean freight operations, including financial performance, service levels, and key initiatives.
• Lead and manage the ocean freight operations team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure optimal performance and professional development.
