Job summary

Frencken in Malaysia seeks a seasoned procurement engineer to manage and develop mechanical suppliers from selection to mass production. You will support technical development, qualification, and supplier capability assessments, driving continuous improvement and cost reductions.

The role requires 5+ years in precision machining, supplier development, and technical sourcing, with strong GD&T knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. On-site work in Bandar Baru Bangi is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in precision machining, mechanical manufacturing, engineering, supplier development or related environment.
• Experience in supplier development, supplier qualification and technical sourcing is highly preferred.
• Experience working with mechanical components, precision machining and outsourced parts will be an added advantage.
• Experience in supplier cost reduction, development and strategic sourcing activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop mechanical suppliers from selection to mass production.
• Support the technical development and qualification of new suppliers, including capability assessment, process evaluation and technical discussions.
• Develop and maintain Supplier Chain Management KPIs to monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor and evaluate suppliers based on commodity strategies, identifying opportunities to consolidate suppliers and reduce the overall supplier base.
• Conduct technical analysis and assessment of new FA/outsourced parts, and support Category Buyers in supplier selection and technical evaluation.
• Manage and maintain new supplier RFQ activities, including technical clarification, quotation evaluation and cost comparison.
• Liaise with QA, SQE and suppliers to investigate and resolve quality-related issues, ensuring CAPAs are implemented.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships by understanding machine capabilities, manufacturing processes and technical competencies.
• Work closely with suppliers to identify gaps and develop solutions to close them.
• Qualify and develop new suppliers to expand supplier capabilities and improve sourcing flexibility.
• Participate in supplier performance improvement initiatives, including cost reduction, productivity improvement, process development and strategic sourcing.
• Support supplier cost reduction activities through technical evaluation, value engineering and process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Operations and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, supplier assessments, sourcing proposals and relevant project reports.
• Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders and suppliers on mechanical manufacturing and sourcing-related matters.
