Job summary

Black & White Engineering seeks an Associate Director – Mechanical Engineering in Kuala Lumpur to lead the mechanical design of data centre and infrastructure projects. You will mentor teams, ensure technical excellence, and drive delivery in Malaysia and across APAC, aligning with global standards.

You will oversee HVAC design, coordinate across disciplines, and maintain commercial discipline while growing engineering capability in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered Professional Engineer with PEPC or Chartered Engineer (CEng) / equivalent accreditation.
• Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline (advantageous).
• Membership of a recognised professional body (IEM/ASHRAE/CIBSE/IMechE) preferred.
• Sound knowledge of Malaysian and international codes and health & safety legislation (e.g., OSHA 1994).
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software (HAP, Hevacomp, IES, BIM 360 / ACC).

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop mechanical design teams for data centre and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee HVAC design development aligned with Front Office requirements for performance and constructability.
• Ensure designs meet industry, legal and B&W standards with Right First Time outcomes.
• Coordinate engineering services across disciplines for integrated designs.
• Drive commercial discipline including dashboards, invoicing, and cost control.
• Mentor and build Kuala Lumpur engineering capability and succession strength.
• Represent the company at client meetings and support regional business development.
