Job summary

Black & White Engineering in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design delivery for mission-critical data centre projects in Malaysia and APAC. You will coordinate teams, manage sub-consultants, ensure QA/QC, and maintain budget and schedule while aligning with client requirements.

You will mentor staff, engage with clients and stakeholders, and support bids and proposals to secure delivery-focused outcomes across complex design phases.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian codes, regulations and authority approval processes.
• Ability to localise global/reference designs to Malaysian conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design phase delivery across feasibility to detailed design.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee activities of sub-consultants across architectural, structural, civil, services and specialist disciplines.
• Manage the commercial performance of sub-consultant contracts, including scope, fees, change control and close-out.
• Maintain control of project financial performance during design, including budgets, forecasts, resource allocation and cost tracking.
• Support proposals, bids and work-winning activities, contributing to delivery methodologies and resourcing plans.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, sub-consultants and internal stakeholders, providing leadership and clear direction.
