Job summary

NI (Part of Emerson) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its R&D team in Penang. You will help ensure hardware designs meet specs, are manufacturable, and aligned with customer needs, while collaborating with local and global teams.

You will lead mechanical design efforts, drive packaging development, and mentor engineers to strengthen mechanical design practices within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in mechanical design and product development.
• Strong understanding of tolerances, materials and manufacturing.
• Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Clear written and spoken English in a global setting.
• Collaborative, curious, data-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of electronics packaging from concept to production.
• Define mechanical architecture, select materials and hardware to meet specs.
• Perform tolerance, thermal, and structural analyses to identify risks.
• Plan and conduct mechanical testing, analyze results, and improve designs.
